A few things I've noticed...

I'm going to start this blog off with a few things I've noticed so far:
1) So the first day of class I thought I was crazy because my paper was sticking out of my folder and I couldn't figure out why it didn't fit right...so I measured my paper and it turns out that the paper here isn't 8.5 x 11 like in the United States...but approximately 8.25x 11.8 (I have 6 in ruler printed inside one of my folders so the measurements aren't exact!)
2) The most popular past time on the beaches is some form of paddle ball...kind of like ping pong with out the tables. Kids and adults play it and seem to really enjoy it!
3) Laundary machines are really small!!
4)Bottled water is extremely cheap! (but I use the water bottle I brought and refill it with tap water)
5) The only food I haven't seen here is peanut butter...they seem to have almost everything else.
6) So far my favorite French food is ratatouille!

Today I walked to FNAC with two friends. FNAC is a bookstore/electronics store...there is a ton of stuff! I didn't buy anything today but I'm sure I'll go back later. It took about half an hour to get there so it was a nice walk! We took the scenic route through the small streets and past all the cafes!
I did laundary on Sunday for the first time, the college has washing machines but we have to pay 4 euros for each load..they do give us the soap and drying is "free". As I mentioned above, the washing machines are very small! My roommate, a friend and I all wanted to wash our towels and just a few other pieces of clothing...we figured it would all fit in one washer but it didn't! So we put it in two washers and ran up to grab a few more things since we now had more room. The drying is free but for some reason I think our clothes were wetter when they came out of the dryer than when they went in. Someone else in our group had that problem to so I'm not sure what we are doing wrong! It was really windy on Sunday so our clothes dried just fine in our rooms with the windows open.
It is still really warm during the day but the mornings and evenings are getting chillier! The first week or so it was SO hot even at night that we could hardly sleep but now it is really comfortable :) I'm really glad! I like when it is a little brisk in the morning!
That's about all for now. I signed up to go to Ile St. Marguerite this Friday and Monaco on Saturday. I can't wait!!
